  • First the "bank" refers to which side of the engine the sensor is on. A 4 cylinder only has one bank, ad a V6/V8 has two banks. Bank 1 is always the bank that holds the number 1 cylinder. Bank 2 has the number 2 cylinder. Sensor 2 refers to where the sensor is located. Sensor 1 would be before the catalytic converter, (closer to the engine) and sensor 2 would be after the catalytic converter. Therefore you are looking for the sensor that is after the catalytic converter. To remove it, it is best to soak it with penetrating oil for about 10 minutes. WD-40, PB Blaster, Deep Creep, etc. This will help to loosen it. Follow the wires coming out of it until you find the connector. Disconnect it, and then using a wrench (almost always a 7/8") remove the sensor. If it doesn't come out easily loosen it a little and then tighten it a little. Keep doing this until you have removed it. Now check the new sensor to make sure the connector looks the same. Install the new sensor and plug it into the connector. Then you're done.
