  • No. But they can repo the auto, garnish wages, litigate you etc. It depends, did you commit fraud?
  • No. All states had debtors prison at one point. However, today the only state with any form of debtors prison in Rhode Island. However, the Rhode Island law only allows a child support debtor to be locked up for refusing to pay for child support.
  • Car loans, no way. That's just like any other loan...an agreement between you and the lender. However, they can take the car. Unless, like lecoq asks, you committed fraud. But, then, it wouldn't be for not paying the bill...it would be for fraud. I sure hope you didn't.
  • No way.. No fraud. Just am real delinquent and the repo guy keeps calling me and saying they will be here with the police saying I stole the car. Just wanted to make sure I am not in any danger and can pay off loan in a month.
