Undoubtedly this comes down to the individual, their race, their religion and their upbringing. It also depends on how you define "better". My personal view is that a marriage of choice is the better option generally speaking. I would also note that the way you phrase your question implies that an arranged marriage is not one of love. An arranged marriage can involve love, either before or after the marriage but they are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

In France arranged marriages cause many problems because some Muslim families (not all of course) require young women to marry men they don't know. Sometimes those men are older than girls. I think everyone should marry the person he loves even if the marriage does'nt last long. I think it must be horrible to sleep each night with a person we don't know.

Arranged marriages are longer lasting, as lover don't see the qualities of each other in the love effect. RK
