I met my husband online 9 1/2 yrs ago but not through a dating service.

I have used match.com and eharmony.com with my mother trying to find a date for HER. She has met some interesting fellows but no love connections at all. She was VERY disappointed in the profile results on E-Harmony.

I did it just for fun you know to see who they would hook me up with. I unsubscribed as soon as I saw a few pictures but I still keep getting those annoying emails that someone wants to talk to me.

I went on one date from a dating site, and although it wasn't a match, I can see it working just as well as meeting someone elsewhere. This way though you can 'feel each other out' before commiting to a date. I think that once you get around some of the more unusual people on the sites, there are some great people and it can be a good way to meet people.

I didn't use an internet dating service, but I went to a chat room on Yahoo that had people from my state. I met a guy, we talked on the phone for about a month before we met. We met October 25th of 2000, got engaged Nov. of 2000, got married March of 2001. We are still married, very happily I might add, and have a beautiful son together. And it is true, I had to meet a ton of frogs to meet my prince! But I found him and I've never been happier!!!!! But I was very careful. I never gave them my phone number, I called them with a calling card. And I met them in a public place. Luckily my husband lived in the same town as me so we never had to deal with a long distance thing. I let my best friend use my computer and go to the same site I did, and she too found her husband there. They met at our house so she wouldn't be alone should he not be as nice as he seemed. There are dangers out there and a woman has to be really careful, but true love can be found over the internet.

Yes to both questions.
Internet dating is great, as long as you're not hoping to meet your soulmate - not that this might not happen, it probably would, but you'd have to kiss a lot of frogs before you found your prince.
I had 3 internet dates.
One lasted about 3 months, the other two less than three minutes, and then I sort of thought that it wasn't really for me.
My friend had a couple of Internet dates and she got engaged just before Christmas to a guy she met through an Internet dating site and they are both totally in love and very happy.
My opinion is that it's a really good idea, as long as you keep an open mind, don't treat it too seriously and keep safe, and you never know what might happen.

I tried E-harmony... a disaster!!! I got tons of responses that were so totally not what I was looking for!
.
I'm sure they work... not for me.
.
AB is a good replacement for love.
