Help answer this question below.
I used to feel that way when I was trying to lose weight, but I almost feel like that is something we put into our own heads but once I started to learn more about food and my body I started to lose weight.
It should be more a way of life than a diet.
you should have plenty of whole grains to keep you feeling full but enough good fats to keep you satisfied (such as monounsaturated fat)
eat fruit and veggies
eat only lean meats
you should drink plenty of water.
make sure you eat enough throughout the day.
ALWAYS stay away from processed food such as white bread, white pasta etc. all they do is bring your sugar levels up fast causing you to crave later.
workout at least 2-3 times a week.
Well if you're feeling hungry all the time you need to eat more complex carbohydrates. If you eat things high in fibre you will stay feeling full longer. Also have to include sugars (fruits and veggies), carbs, and proteins as much as possible in all major meals. The body breaks them all down at different speeds and protein and carbs will keep you full longer. High fibre foods also help prevent things like colon cancer.
If you get really hungry, and feel like you're starving yourself, eat something. Eat a piece of fruit or a hand-full of almonds (yes, nuts have fat but things like almonds are also very good for you). You should be eating 5-6 small meals a day, so you shouldn't really have time to get hungry.
When you feel like you're starving yourself you are more likely to fail at dieting and over-eat when you can get food. You are also more likely to choose a bad snack, like a chocolate bar, instead of fruit because it's at hand and since you're so hungry you're craving to automatic sugar intake.
just make a few changes to the ammount you eat now, such as if you drink pop replace that with water or fruit juice, replace a meal with a salad, and if you snack alot look for healthier snack options next time your at the store.
also going for a walk after eating a meal will make a huge difference.
it may feel like your losing nothing, dont weigh yourself every day or even every week, the very small weight loss will make you feel like your waisting your time, iinstead only weigh yourself once a month. weight usually comes of faster at first so in a few months time when your weight loss has slowed to a crawl this is normal, keep it up and given a year you will notice a difference.
Oatmeal is a great one, fruits and veggies are a must and nuts are amazing, jsut cause they got fat in them don't mean they will make you fat. Stay away from pop and fruit juices (unless they are natural with no additive sugar crap like High fructose corn syrup, fructose, sucrose, ect.. they make fruit juice just as bad as pop, they usually only have maybe 10% fruit in them anyway)
Also try eating 6 smaller meals aday instead of 3 larger ones, this will keep your motabolisum up all day to burn all those calories with less effort, stay active this will make your body like a machine just wanting to burn
It's not how much you eat it is what you eat
Eat oatmeal every day.
I had heard that it "strips gut fat" but I didn't believe it until I tried it. I have lost 6 pounds since I started and some of it is from the dreaded gut. I haven't modified anything else so....
Eat whenever you are hungry, and only when you are hungry. Eat only a small portion and try to make it fresh, plain vegetables and fruits. Drink as much water as you can comfortably drink, try for at least 6 glasses a day.
Walk at least a mile a day, and more is better.
You have already received lots of good tips here, but here are some additional thoughts.
- Start your day by drinking a litre of water right after you wake up. Take 1/2 hour, or whatever time you need. Wait about 30 minutes to an hour before eating. You will be amazed at what a difference this will make in your metabolism, food processing during the day, and energy levels.
- To the extent possible, eat "whole" foods, such as an Apple, a Banana, and plenty of fresh
vegetables in your salads. These will make you feel full. Even potatoes are great and filling;
just don't load them with butter, sour cream, etc. I keep washed apples, and cleaned, cut celery and carrot slices handy for snacks, also nuts.
- Eat FISH 2-3 times a week. Salmon is great, tuna is good, and whatever else you like.If you like shrimp, buy a package of frozen, cleaned, deveined, shrimp, and put a handful (rinsed) in a pan with a small amount of olive oil, chopped fresh vegetables, and serve alone or over rice. Fish is an excellent source of protein, naturally low in fat, and will support your efforts to eat nutritiously.
- In addition to lean meats, 0ther good sources of protein include Eggs, Cheese, and Nuts (Walnuts, Pecans, Almonds).
- I try to eat a small amount of oat meal every day. If you want to flavor it up, add some cinnamon, raisins, and walnuts. If you can't tolerate oatmeal, try a natural granola, either as a cold cereal or mixed with a lowfat yogurt.
- Whole grain breads can be very filling, and you only need one slice cut in half to make a delicious sandwich.
- Keep moving. Walk a bit every day.
There are many, many options and you can't go wrong with whole, fresh, foods, water, and moderate exercise. Enjoy. Don't feel deprived! Eat something nutritious whenever you are hungry.
Best wishes for happiness and good health!
I am sorry, my tips are not worth mentioning (they didn't work on my wife) :-(
