Well, if the Religious Right has it way, here would be some other things that the government would control: marriage, abortion, sex education and reproductive/sexual rights in general, stem-cell research, mandatory prayer and/or religious education in school, teaching of ID in public schools, removal of science - particularly evolution - from public schools, declaring a fetus as a human, no separation of church and state

Because the government is becoming more and more communist as the years go by...they are taking it upon theirselves to take controll of things that they shouldnt...The theory of a democracy that the government should fear the people, the people shouldnt fear the government has been gone for quite some time. Politicians are all becoming more and more money hungary "animals" that has no concern over their actual roll and only do to help themselves.

Because they don't want chaos and murderers and rapists running the streets. Believe it or not, the government keeps you safe... try to think of what it would be like with no government. You really think people could govern themselves?

They wouldn't unless they'd been brainwashed by modern liberalism to think that they know better what is best for you than you do yourself.

Because in many parts of the world the government runs many things in society,it works well,and people seem happy.Look a France,and many European countries,where the government control many things and people are cared for from cradle to grave.Not all governments are corrupt.

I wouldn't be surprised that if the oil companies ran the highway system we'd be paying a $5/mile toll.
