  • It shouldnt but yes it prob does subconsciously.
  • Not really. Although I've seen that the way I dress influences the way people treat me, so I make sure not to dish out what I've taken.
  • no but the way they act does.
  • Yes. If she's cute and doesn't have a ring I'm sweet as can be. If she's married or an Ugo, I don't have the time of day.
  • Sometimes it does. If i see someone who seems to me to be in need of love care attention or basic necessities, i feel more compassion for that perosn than for the one who does not appear to be in need.
  • Well, I gots a @#$%-load of years of practice for it *not* to! ;-)
  • certainly if someone is sad or discouraged i try to be extra kind and gentle with them
  • I think it does influence me .. though it should not!
  • More on their reactions i beleive
  • Yep. I'd like to say no, but I'd be lying
  • Yes,a person is normally influenced by the first look of that person.Later on it will depend on the way he talks or behaves.
  • No..the way a person looks is the shell the person lives in..nothing less or more..I treat everyone the same regardless of appearance :)
  • Depends on the situation. If I am interviewing a job candidate then yes how they present themsleves makes a huge difference but not how attractive they are or aren't but how they are dressed. For example I had a woman turn up for a job interview with the dirtiest fingernails I have seen! Now if it was a gardening job no problem but this was a customer service/consultant role!
  • Yes absolutely. Like someone else here said we do it subconsciously. It's not "just" about good or unattractive looks...it's about any look. We may feel increased sympathy towards someone because they subconsciously remind us of someone pleasant (in the past or present). They may have similar facial features to a relative, a friend, an ex-partners or the kindergarten lady. Obviously this can go both ways, liking or disliking someone, without knowing why. There is also a collective sense of features that we find more appealing than others. Just compare a rabbit with a spider or snake. We inherently react differently to those animals. One is universally considered cuddly, cute and not dangerous while the other types are seen as creepy, scary, disgusting or dangerous. It's very similar with humans. Some people have features that trigger a similar response as with the rabbit and snake. Obviously people don't look like rabbits or snakes, but there are features that are universally more likeable than others. Something else that is even more interesting is the fact that the way someone is treated "because of his/her looks" determines how the personality of this person will unfold. In other words...our reaction (to their looks) shapes their personality. Pretty trippy when you think about it...
  • I would be lying if I said that a person's appearance did not influence my initial opinion of them. However, I do not rely on an initial appearance. For example, if someone is dressed like a gangsta, I am going to not be comfortable around them. If they turn out to not be a gangsta and just like to dress like that, I would re-evaluate my first impression. I also form negative first impressions of people who have a bunch of Nazi tattoos. If it turns out that that person has them due to a past affiliation and does not believe that way anymore, I change my opinion.
  • Not at all. The way they act determines how I treat them.
  • Absolutely. The world is very judgmental and tends to place more value on people with good looks
  • No it does not, I may like or dislike their looks but not influenced by their ethnic background. I may dislike a northern Swedish person because they are too white, very blond and very light blue eyed and could remind me of "Tofu" but their ethnicity has nothing to do with it.
  • Yes. First impressions are the most important. Even after you get to know a person, the way they look still tends to influence you. Anyone who says differently is either a lier, a Saint or fooling him/herself.
  • No. It simply doesn't matter to me what they look like.
  • na not really, cuz its really based on preference. what is good looking to another person probably wouldnt be good looking towards another. vice versa. however if they start actin up no matter how they look, then maybe i might move away from'em or else i might end up hurting the knuckleheads! lol
  • Nope +4
