I have a 5 month old kitten that likes the dry dog food I give her dry kitten food but she will only eat a little. I've given her can food but I have to go out of town for a couple of days sometimes and can't feed her can food.

Please lay off of or limit the dog food for a kitten. It's not good for adult cats, much less kittens. Dog foods lack sufficient amounts of taurine, which is absolutely essential to a cat's good nutrition. Insufficient amounts of taurine can lead to blindness and death.

Easiest solution is to have someone come and feed her when you're out of town.

Unlike dogs cats need to get essential fatty acids and aminoacids from their food, they can't make those themselves. Since that is costly in production, dogfood will not contain those but catfood will. So unless you want your kitten develope deffinciencies, you better skip the dogfood.
If your kitten only seems to eat a little it can well be that that is sufficient to cover her needs. If you compare the amount dry food needed to the amount of wet food needed you should bare in mind that wet food contains 60-80% of water and dry food about 10%. So if you calculate that back to the dry matter in food 100 grams of dry food contains 90 grams of dry matter and 100 grams of wet food 20-40 grams (the cheaper the food the more water you've bought).

I have bought (and seen alot) the feeders you buy at your local pet stores where you fill the dry food in a large container and it releases the food automatically when the bowl attached to it is becoming empty. It works great for a few days. If you cannot afford one, I have also put a few filled bowls of food around the house, as well as water and it worked pretty well. Hoped this helped!
