  • The thing I think of right away is manners has been thrown right out the door. An example? Customer service.........its rare to get good CS these days...without some kind of attitude associated with it.
  • It Got Dropped Kicked ;)
  • A lot of it is how kids are being raised today. We as a society have become a "it's all about me and what I want and screw anyone else". So, if the neighbor is sick..so what. It's not treat people like you want to be treated anymore. R U had a good example with CS. NObody seems to do anything to help anyone anymore unless they directly benefit from it.
  • The golden rule has become the victim of golden showers;)
  • I think that everyone SHOULD treat each other like they want to be treated, BUT, the nicer you are the more times you get screwed over. That's what I think is happening in todays society
  • True, the golden rule has become obsolete somewhere along the line. Common courtesy is gone, and it seems that the value of fellow human beings is at an all time low.
  • I can't speak for anyone else, but I definitely still exercise the Golden Rule at all times. If I somehow fail to, then I accept responsibility for being at fault.
  • Because the "golden rule" is scripture-based and so many are denying God.
  • Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. (Matthew 7:12) Do to others as you would have them do to you. (Luke 6:31) I believe millions still live by this rule every day. We just rarely hear about them but if you open your eyes then you can see them all over the place. As St. Francis of Assisi said, "Preach the Gospel always, and when necessary use words." With love in Christ.
  • You must have heard of reverse engineering. But have you heard of reverse alchemy? Well thats what the reverse alchemists in our society are doing to the 'golden rule'. They are turning it into a 'base metal rule'. Thats what has happened.
  • When you boil people down to their essence, i don't really think it has gone that far. We live in a world of 24/7 news and instant feedback. I personally believe it overloads people to the point where they are so stressed out that they begin to exhibit unfriendly behavior. We all need one big dose of the chill pill.
  • Most seem to have forgotten that it exists but then I see a few good souls who still hold on to its delicate thread and refuse to let it go and I queue up behind them.
  • Some people still believe in it and follow it and some probably have never heard of it. Depends on how kids are raised as to whether or not they care about the rights of others. Right..it's the parents' fault! :) ((hugs))
  • I think we are living in a world that isn't going to exist very much longer. God is not going to continue to allow all of this nonsense to go on. I have learned since being on AB since August that there are so many people that do not believe in God and also that are just hateful and rude people. It is sad for me to know that. Before coming on to AB, I only knew the people that were in my life and I knew those kind of people did exist but I did not have an idea as to how many there were. And outside of AB I am sure there are many many more. Nobody seems to have RESPECT for people anymore. I am sure because I used the word God in this answer it will get DR but I always speak what I feel so that is fine with me. What it boils down to is the government wants to take God out of everything and without him this world will not stand. Mark my words, no let me repharse that, mark his words.
  • Ooooh, the 'golden rule' has evolved into, I'll treat you like shit because I can, however, you're obligated to treat me like a king/queen in exchange and if you don't you'll be offending me and/or persecuting me
  • No one thinks anymore of others
  • when they took god and prayer out of the schools. they locked the golden rule outside also.
