  • Maybe you should go up to one of these homeless people and say "Excuse me Mr/Ms, but I was wondering what you do with those winter jackets when the summer rolls around?" and when they answer you, see if you feel some level of achievement from having asked the question.
  • I don't know about where you are, but here where I live, homeless people can go to the local Salvation Army and get a coat or shoes if they need them without charge. In the warmer months, maybe they sell the coats to eat for a day.
  • They probably sell it for food or drink (alcohol), usually alcohol
  • I imagine they are forgotten at some place where they get too hot and take it off and lay it down. Ive lost 100's of umbrellas in my life because it stopped raining and i walk out without it.
  • They keep em at there mansions
  • If they were smart, they would shred them up and eat them. Then as stated by another answer they would go each year and get a "new" old coat from the Salvation Army for the winter. This solves the warmth problem in winter and makes for a lovely snack in between swigs of Thunderbird during the summer. Of course, if they were smart they might not be homeless in the first place which would invalidate the entire question/answer process...
  • I live in the Washington, DC area where we have a lot of homeless people. I notice quite a few of them wear their winter jackets and boots in the summer.
  • They donate them to the poor
  • Use them for pillows in the warm seasons.
  • Some keep them all year long, others will get a coat donated to them every winter.
