Use this add-on and set a password for it that only you know:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1803
You have a few choices:
1) Rely on software which is fallible, lets pR0n through while blocking other (no-pR0n) sites, and generally serves to drain your wallet for a false sense of security.
Such software is also easily circumvented by a tech-savvy kid, thus rendering it even more useless.
2) Shoulder-surf and monitor them directly.
Well, this leads to resentment and trust issues. Chances are that they will just withdraw from you and build a wall around themselves. Might make things a little tough later on in life.
3) Lay down the law. Tell them that they can surf, but if you find pR0n on the PC then they aren't using the PC at home.
Of course, then they just use their cell-phones or their friend's computers...
4) Raise them in a way that they will have little/no interest in pR0n in the first place.
Hard to do with teenagers, but it *can* be done. If you can get them to treat women as people instead of sex objects, then they will wind up better people overall regardless of whether they ever surf the 'net.
u can do this by locking ur internet login id
I would recommend you not censor your child's access to the world and answer them honestly when they ask questions about it. It is often not a desire to protect the child, but a desire to save the parent from an uncomfortable situation, which causes a parent to keep their child from reality.
monitor the internet with your kids.
we (Davie and i) now have our own laptop, but i make sure he deletes all the history etc after he has visited certain sites!!
A lot of this software doesn't work as well as it should.

Sure thing. Be aware that when Firefox updates sometimes add-ons will not be compatible until updated as well. Watch for updates to make sure that the add-on isn't removed without your knowledge.
