While I don't know about any studies, as a former Paramedic and a current truck driver, that fire trucks have actually gotten smaller and more aerodynamic. Semi's have stayed about the same size, but have gotten larger, more fuel efficient engines. The truck that I drive has a 500 hp diesel engine that gets about 6.7 mpg loaded. Now, all vehicles after 2007 are required to burn ultr low sulfur diesel fuel which makes them more pollution friendly.
Why do fire engines keep their doors open when parked in the fire station?
