God is a concept, and as such it does exist. It is however up to the individual to define God. God in the sense that most religions define it is an aberration, but if you think of "love," for instance as the definition of "God" then the concept seems to make sense, don't you think?

I never realized it, I knew it since the day I was born
-
GOD is there. It is a truth but we humans pray Him with different names & ways.

You cannot prove that he doesn't exist, so I din't realize that he couldn't exist. I however realized that it's highly unlikely that he exists. I started doubting the concept of god when I was about 8 and heard that there are dozens of religions in the world. I finally came to the conclusion that he most certainly doesn't exist when I was 15, this was because I started to get interested in science, and I noticed that the god hypothesis just doesn't make any sense.

I realized that the chances of a God existing are ridiculously slim, and only a moron would believe it, but I won't say that a god can't exist. After all, such a god's very nature would make it undefinable. Anyway, my full realization of this occured only a few months ago.

Haven't relaized it yet! When I don't I'll let you know!

I think around 14 was when I became a solid Atheist.

How can someone realize that God does not exist when there is absolutely no proof of this? There is also no proof of His existence. Is this a paradox or not?

I feel bad, because I was a blind man following "God" into my 20's. It was Iraq that finally pushed me over the edge. You can't witness "random" attrocities and believe a loving god could allow that. Once you question his love, you question his motives, once you question his motives, you question his divinity, and once you question that, you question his actuality. And at each step I found god, wanting.

Coincidence. I was 8 when I wrote an essay for school about my decision that I didn't believe in god. I don't think I ever did, but I do have the essay to mark the date as when I was 8, just like you!
-
If you TRULY believe this, then WHO are you talking about? I mean, if you DON'T believe in God, then how do you know that it's "God"--that you DON'T believe in?
-
And what was your great revelation?

Whilst I certainly understand everyones opinion to this question, I stopped believing God probably exists about 4-5 years ago. I became a full blown atheist about a year or two ago.

My first doubts came when I was really young - about 6 - and it was in response to the idea that only Christians go to heaven. I was upset that the poor starving kids in Africa who had never heard of Jesus would end their short, miserable lives with an eternity in hell. The teacher said that if they never heard about Jesus they wouldn't go to hell, but only if they heard about him and rejected him. I didn't argue, but I wasn't happy with the answer either. . Still I remained a Christian for much longer - I was about 11 when I lost any sense of devotion I had, and later still when I decided that god either did not exist, or was not worthy of our worship. Eventually I settled on the former.

When my mommy told me "My imaginary friends aren't real", and that I should stop believing in them; to which I replied, "But what about yours?" LOL that would be a great story wouldn't it? Unfortunately, the reality is less interesting - I simply educated myself.
