I really like one of my guy friends. He's so amazing and everything I look for in a guy. But people around school are saying he's gay and it's not one of those rumors that has no base. I can see where they're coming from. What should I do?

I think unless those people who believe your friend to be gay have spent any time in his bedroom, then they know nothing about it. Tell him about the rumors that floating around, ask him if they are true and tell him you have an ulterior motive for asking because you would like to go out with him unless that scenario makes him uncomfortable. He will likely be honest with you. What have you got to lose by being straight-forward?

You know what...I'm 26 and have come to realize that the more you ask people about the secrets in friends you like, it's unlkely that they will know everything unless told by that person upfront. For instance, I recently met a guy I've been talking with and really find him AMAZING! However, I said it to one chick and she blabbed to another and they took it to another level and said he was taken and he's probably not into you, just likes you as ...a friend, blah blah. None of that was true... . Personally, I didn't/couldn't really believe it because the way he talked did not add up to what they said. They also had never had a conversation with him...so, where in the world WOULD they be getting this information? GOsssssiP!

- He had asked me to hang out the other night, but I was busy. We're meeting up next weekend though. I know he finds me someone interesting he would like to know...and so, to me, we're hanging out and taking it easy. Doesn't mean that we are going to get together, but at least, it shows that what those girls were saying wasn't accurate. Also, I've asked others who don't even know him and they've been negative/doubtful, told me to be wary, etc...very few have said just take it easy, relax and see how things pan out. It's between you and the guy. So, I would advise you ask him why he doesn't have a girlfriend...just chat and have fun and maybe oh maybe you'll be getting to know each other too:)

If you feel close enough to ask him then ask him. He may be honest and if he is not and is really your friend he shouldn't get too mad.

Well he's your friend, right? What do you think is more likely, random people around school would know he's gay or you'd know he's gay?
Ask him out, if you think he's so great, but, as with -any- person, be prepared for rejection.
