I don't know, it's kinda too "cool", the distant kind. Even if she's interested, she's the only one left risking, puts her only on the spot.
I would rather you look me in the eye and say, "I really enjoy talking to you and I sure would be honored if you'd join me for dinner sometime. (Pause, if she doesn't say a quick yes), Listen, you don't have to say right now, I'll leave you my card and why don't you give me a call if you'd like to"
Well I hope you find an answer that works for you. Good Luck!

This happened to me, but i had a boyfriend at the time and my customer never came in again (i felt very bad!). If you could speak to her boss first (when she is not there), to check if it is appropriate first, that would be nice, and then leave your message, but do not be too forward, as that can be a bit scary when you do not know someone. Good luck :)

Ask her flat out for a date. The worst she can say is no. I frequent many resturaunts and have also worked at a few. I know for a fact that the waitresses are there for the money not the dates, but there are exceptions. DO NOT try to corner her at her job, this will backfire. Start leaving her good tips so she remembers your face being associated with a positive action (good tipper). Then if by chance she is interested in you, she will take the time to show it. I'm not a lady but I have dated, worked with, and known many waitresses in my time. The card may be "too upfront" to fast, unless she shows signs otherwise.

Watch the movie "Office Space" and see how Peter approaches Joanna. I think the business card approach would be very "unpersonal" and a bit aloof.

However, if you are married, you should leave the waitress alone.
