Help answer this question below.

Why is Halo so popular? I have played it and I didn't think it was anything special. Why do people like it so much?

    As far as the campaign went, for halo 1, it has a different feel. Most games that have anything to do with aliens trying to conquer Earth aren't great. More often than not, the aliens don't represent anything most people would visualize when thinking of aliens. Also, most of the aliens in those games aren't overly brilliant. Their plan, and how they go about fulfulling it, aren't very amazing or overly brilliant. Halo, however, represents alien as, while other worldly, an intellengent race capable of being a great threat to humanity..unless you play the game on easy. As far as multiplayer goes, there's alot of thought and skill that goes into the halo multiplayer. Few people realize just how hard it is to be good. In most other futeristic games, you can do just about anything ( eg : get poweru[s making you capable of superhuman speed, extra high jumps, invulnerability...etc. )In halo,the most you can do is be invisible for breif periods of time using Covenant technology, or have overshield. Your grenades have to be angled right inorder to be of use, and your acuracy has to be extremely good inorder to get fast kills. Luckilly for us, it isn't overly difficult to get good. If you find this game boring, perhaps you need to find someone as skilled as you , instead of being better or worse, and play them. Perhaps once you find this person, or people, you'll be satisfied that it isn't a bad game. ( jeeze, that was lengthy )

    First off, Halo and its sequels are very well-designed, thoroughly detailed games.
    The glossy graphics, high level of detail, intelligent A.I. programs... etc. etc. attracts those in the hardcore game-geek camp.

    And on the other hand... You get to use various pretty flashy things that go bang and kill people, except you don't have to actually move to do it.
    Excluding sex, that pretty much covers everything your typical young jackass wants out of life.

    It was one of the better first person shooters, and it was one of the FIRST game to have online play and sharing between consoles. It was fun to blow your friends brains out all over the screen.....without HALO we wouldnt have total pwnage.

    Different people obviously have different tastes. Gamers vary as much as any other group of people. Take movies for example. Napoleon Dynamite was a smash hit; seemingly everyone loved it. However, other people (myself included) fail to see the "greatness" in the movie. While some items appeal to large groups of people, the minority will always be represented as well.

    i like halo, i really enjoy the online/multiplayer gameplay, it owns, i only have halo 1, but me and my mates get together sometimes and have huge 8 player games, it rocks when you have two fully kitted out tanks, charging straight at eachother, guns fireing everywhere! BANG!!! BOOM!!!

    im not a big halo fan either. i just think its fun to play with ur friends the matchmaking gets to be really slow sometimes which is very annoying.

    It's sociological. Some people like the fact that they can control life. Even if that life isn't real, they can still extinguish it. It's also a pressure valve for others. Sometimes, when my husband is angry at his boss, he will play that game.

    because the 2nd TRilogy, Halo 2, has online play, good gameplay, well Graphics for a conolse made in 2001, it is well variety of weaponry.


    Halo 2 is also popular because Microsoft/Bungie did a good advertisement job with it

    According to Bungie, the #1 Reason people hate halo is because they suck at it.
