I guess you have to ask yourself why you want to start a home library? If you want to just have books on a shelf to impress your friends, be very careful to use old obscure books that they probably haven't read either so they won't question you about it. Philosophy is a good place to start. Some Nietszche, Sartre, Descarte, Plato, Leibniz, Spinoza, Kant, Hume, etc, etc, etc.

If you just want to have a collection of books that you love, then...just start reading. As you keep reading, your collection will grow. A home library isn't something that happens overnight. It's something that takes years and years to develop.

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "home library." A home library is just all of the books you own lined up on a shelf.
