Question

Help answer this question below.

Is there any way to get a third party competitive in the presidential elections? I for one would like to see a fiscally conservative, socially moderate, inti-war party. Ie, stay out of my personal life, quit making war, and balance your budgets. You?

I'd like to, but if I vote 3rd party I weaken the only true oppostion to the republican party. And they're far worse than the Democrats.

You would have to establish the party first. A good first step would be to start electing people to the House of Representatives.

You would have to change the Election Laws in every US state in order to change anything...those laws were set up mostly during the Great War to prevent the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, and the Bull Moose Party (Teddy Roosevelt's Party) from gaining seats. (They did quite well until then). Earlier election laws were set up to prevent Blacks from getting Senate seats in Congress.

The civil rights acts 0f 1957 and 1964 addressed part of this problem (esp. poll taxes).
