Junk Yard Dog

Question

Help answer this question below.

I haven't filed for 3 years and I am considered self employed. I only brought home about 30K each year, no taxes deducted from my check. I have NEVER in my life have saved any reciepts and fear I owe a million dollars with fees and penalties. What to do?

You should consider learning how to pick up soap very carefully, and don't let them put you in a cell with a guy name Phil (Phil McCrevis)!!!!

It's possible you could never get caught, but if you do it will be a lot worse than if you declare what you owe now. You need to go to an accountant or even H & R Block and get them to help you. Surely if you are self employed they can help you come up with some deductions. Even if you can't pay all the taxes you owe, you can set up a payment plan. You will owe interest, but you may not owe penalties if you file first before you are caught. The experts (CPA or HR Block) know what to do. It's also possible to work out an agreement with IRS to pay a flat amount. Good luck!

I hope you have saved enough money for a one-way flight to Iraq.

This is about the only country that will hide you from the Internal Revenue Service.

    This is surely a joke.

No one could be this ignorant.

I was in the same boat, more or less, as you. I was separated but the deal was, she got to keep insurance from my job, and we would file together to help keep taxes lower. only, we filled out the paperwork together, and then she filed her own and didn't tell me for
3 FREAKIN' years. I was scared to death.
Believe it or not, the most truth and the best help I got was from the IRS office. You won't get into serious trouble, esp if you go to them...but do it soon, however you do it. I had to pay off the entire amount because of my income, and the penalties and interest alone came to 300/mo. the longer you wait, the more it will be.

contact an CPA who is a friend, have him/her figure out how much you would owe. Then decide from there what you need to do. If you dont know a CPA, find a friend who knows one. I think everyone knows a CPA or someone who knows someone.

Hope that helps and good luck.
