What exactly did Enron do to violate the law during their 2001 scandal?

    They did a combination of money fraud and cornering the market to drive up the price of Enron stock. As you may know one of the deffendents, Enron founder Kenneth Lay, or as Bush called him, "Kenny Boy", reascetly died in Aspine CO. Hope this helps.
