I'll do anything to get the job done, I wish I wasn't the only one in my company.
-
Bend the rules - lost a position that way but I havent changed.
-
I bend them a lot. I am a manager and being flexible for customers and staff needs and wants is very important. Luckily my boss just lets me get on with things.
-
I believe in flexibility, but within certain parameters. You need to have a little structure for things to run smoothly.
-
I am afraid that deep down, even though I like to think I can bend the rules, I am actually very bound by rules and regulations. I will, of course, do anything to get the work done efficiently and effectively, but... I feel guilty if I break or bend the rules in order to do it.
-
guess i bend them since i should prob not be on answerbage =D

I was a rule bender when I could be. In my former line of work, there was not a lot of room for anything but policy and procedure though. When the rare opportunity to bend the rules without major consequence came along. . .I took it.
-
Rules (should) exist for a reason. To the extent the situation is consistent with the reason for the rule, I apply the rule. When the situation calls for it, the rule has to give way to good judgment.
-
That depended upon the job. When I was in counterinsurgency operations in Vietnam, I bent rules until they had factures. When I was an Employee Relations Manager for Exxon, the rules were gospel and I was a preacher! : )

i go by the book at work,If I dont I could put a women in danger...
-
I'm both if that's possible. I work for the court system and it's kind of hard to bend those rules, but if there is an easier way to do something or a more efficient means to achieve the end result, that works for me. As I am fond of saying, it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.
-
I always bend the rules =)
-
I have to follow established procedures. There is really no way to break the rules without a high-up noticing. We are subject to audits twice a year.
-
Only by goofing around on AB when I should be working.
-
I'm a bender...
-
a little of both it depends on how busy we are if there is down time I bend the rules
-
Bend the rules, cut through the red tape to get something accomplished.
-
I wrote the procedure manual at work but I would break from procedure in a heartbeat if it meant the difference between success and failure. Procedures are actually only a guide for typical situations. "Process and procedure is the last hiding place of people without the wit and wisdom to do their jobs properly" :-)
-
policies are just theories. i try to follow them lightly... but i bend them to benefit others.
-
Haha, I can never follow the rules and it gets me in trouble all of the time. I keep thinking it is going to get me fired too, but it hasn't yet... It isn't because I have understanding bosses either. I guess I just cover my ass well? I'm constantly "rocking the boat" for the "greater good" as you put it.
