Help answer this question below.
-0- Wouldn't you believe it? My friend received a letter for jury selection processes ON the day of her 18th birthday. She was one of the juries selected exactly one month later!
She was forced to stay with the rest of the juries for about 3 months, because four people wouldn't agree with the rest. -_-; In the end, they agreed... They weren't even "convinced", they just sort of said, "Alright, fine, have it your way"! That was SO appalling.
TO ALL those interested in reading my answer: IF YOU EVER get the subpoena for Jury Duty, PLEASE bring at least one newspaper and/or book with you to the Court house. You might be there for an extended period of time. AND you WILL need something to help pass the time during the jury selection process!
We were in Court a total of 3 days. It took one day to do the jury selection. It took about 1 1/2 days to hear the case.
We were in the jury deliberation room talking about who was going to be the foreman/forelady, when the Bailiff came in to let us know the case was settled.
It's a good thing the case was settled. The lady who was there on behalf of her deceased husband's estate, "flashed" (DELIBERATELY opened and closed her legs) the members of the jury.
I don't know who she was trying to impress or why she did it. I thought it was totally uncalled for.
I KNOW I would have awarded her $1 for that stunt!
Thanks for asking your Q! I did my best to answer it.
I hope the information helps.

i never served as jury,
but if in future i got chance,
then may be never
In a criminal trial where I served on the jury it took about 7 hours to deliberate.
In a civil trial (personal injury at a Wal-Mart), we took about 2.5 hours.
it was a drunk driving charge. He kept saying that just because he was in the drivers seat with the car running, he was NOT planning on driving. We deliberated 5 hours and then he changed his plea. I could have shot him. I had to pay someone to go pickup my son from daycare and then he changes his plea..
Twice
3 days in trial on a Grievous Bodily Harm Charge against four men who kicked a guys eye out I was foreman....4 hours....

Fraud..he changed his plea......18 months
The one regular jury duty I did, didn't take long.
I was also on the Grand Jury in Houston about 6 years ago. I loved it! It was very interesting and you learn about a whole lotta stuff going on!
The right to a jury trial is a "right inviolate". Is it constitutional to require a person to pay a jury fee in order to claim that right?

You're reading If you ever served jury duty, how long did it take to come up with a verdict after the trial was over?
