    yep, sent to collections same as all the others. (not all hospitals are as vigilant however)

    True, bad credit is bad credit. However, a medical bill, or say a utility bill, DOES NOT hold the same mud as a revolving credit line or loan. Very rarely does a medical or utility collections have an effect on your credit although it is listed. Generally, your utility and medical bills only account for 10% of your bad credit. Look at it this way if you doubt me...67 percent of the entire population has a bad debt whether it be medical or a utility default. If a medical or utility default were as equally as accountable as a defaulted loan or a defaulted revolving credit line, most of us would be ineligible for any type of credit.

    yes... I rank within the lowest of credit scores but I have never even had a credit card... the only bills I will not pay are the ones enforced by hospitals that gave me service that hurt rather than helped

    In the US it does. They use the same collectors as anyone else. It sucks, but it's the unfortunate truth of our country's way of dealing with illness.

    It depends on whether the medical office reports them as unpaid or not. If they have been sent to a collection agency, then yes, will will lower your score.
