First thing to do is familiarize yourself with the "language" of philosophy. Premises, arguments, conclusions, etc., and the definitions of different types of arguments and logical devices. Then start with some basic epistemology, what we know and how we know it, knowledge & reality theory, that kind of thing.

read what you are drawn to, vascillate, keep a diary, discuss your readings and observations with smart philosophers even via internet.
