  • I spent too much time in central america and was also rejected despite having had an aids test. Intellectually I wondered if they couldn't just test my blood a little bit more. emotionally my feelings were a bit hurt.
  • I have never heard of this, I live in England though, where does this happen and what would be the reason for not letting you give blood?
  • I lived in England from 2002 to 2004 and have the same problem. It's due to the Mad Cow epidemic they had in the UK. My wife was afraid to eat anything but fish or chicken when we lived there but I had some lamb. I used to give blood before I went to England but can't now either. Seems they could screen the blood but if they don't want my blood that is up to them.
  • I lived in England for 9 months while participating in a study abroad program in college. Ihave been bannd from blood donations since the "Mad Cow Disease" epidemic several years ago. Personally I was bummed as I had been a regular donor since 18 and it is something very easily done. Since I am O negative they love my blood because pretty much everyone can use it in a pinch if need be. Has anyone heard of this banned being lifted anytime soon. Last time I tried to give about 1 year ago, they seem to think that they were going to have a test that would allow people like us to give.
