• Do we really want to have 18 year olds trying to finance continuing education through the the reels on slot machines? And for that matter the illegal alien problem will only get worse in Nevada.

• I read that illegals were going back to Mexico, more jobs there.
  Vegas is being affected by the economy and that's one way they think they can make up the difference. And 18 is the legal age in California and Arizona, at the Native American casinos.

• I'm assuming you're referring to military personnel. They can't run for House Rep seats until they're 25, do we make an exception for them on that? No.
  There are lots of places that the 18-20 military personnel to go party and gamble. Why does Vegas have to change their rules? Gambling is not a "right".

• Of course it's not a "right". What a ridiculous statement! We ask our children to put their lives in danger, yet they can't even have a drink in a bar or bet in a casino. My point is, our government should stay out of our private lives!

• The actual military personnel can drink at 18. If at 18, you're not wearing camouflage, you're not drinking or gambling.
  Staying out of our private lives is fine, but when the industry is regulated by the feds they get to make the rules.
  Again, at 22 you can lead troops in battle and not make legislative decisions? That doesn't make sense either -- let me choose which adults I want to represent me in government. That's more of a restriction than telling me which state and bar I can gamble in.
  About it not being a "right" - you tell me it's not a right and then tell me to stay out of your life. If it's not a right it can be regulated by the government. I don't get the complaint.

• I'm not twisting words at all. Just taking your ideas to their logical conclusions and differentiating between a want and a right. Too many wants are being called a right under the banter of "stay out of my private life" when the activity is nowhere near private.
  There are lots of places where the government is all in our private lives and we don't seem to mind:
  - tax credits for children (why should the government care about how many children I have)
  - seat belt laws
  - helmet laws
  - professional licensing (Why can't I have a non-lawyer friend of mine represent me in court? Or have just anyone cut my hair - why do beauticians need licensing?)
