Should Yale University return thousands of Inca artifacts excavated decades ago by a U.S. scholar at Machu Picchu to Peru?

    If it was unauthorized by the government, then it was in fact stolen and these items should be returned. If, however, permission was given I don't see what the problem is. Happy Tuesday! :) ((hugs))

    The article said that Peru never gave up ownership and threatened to sue before. They had an agreement that fell through, according to the article, because they couldn't agree on the number of items to be returned. If they never gave permission, ALL of them should go back. What right does Yale really have to artifacts from another country? Even if permission was given, and Peru wants them back, they should be given back, perhaps with an agreement to be able to put them on display once every couple years or something. Really, it's PERU'S history, not ours. We would want archaeological artifacts of our own from another country, why should it be different with Peru? In the interest of science maybe they should sometimes be on a traveling tour, like I said, but it should be up to Peru.
