I am concerned that a large portion of todays your truly believe that 'you' is spelled 'u', 'through' is spelled 'thru', and 'because' is spelled 'coz'. Do you actually know how to spell correctly and choose not to, or do you believe that that is correct?

• I genuinely want to know if young people believe that these short-hand spellings are correct.
  
  They're used so often, and in places where shorthand isn't really required, that I wonder if people really do know how to spell anymore.

• Well, I cannot speak for that "large portion of today's youth", I can only speak for my own children, so: Yes, they can spell correctly, though they use text-speak for quick chats on their phones.
