Two days should be fine. Odds are a day would also work, but might not in higher concentrations. If you put an airstone in the water, it greatly speeds up the chlorine breakdown. Then you should be fine at one day. One thing to keep in mind if you are doing the recommended weekly 25% water change is that you could drop the aquarium water temperature by putting in 68 degree sitting water in the winter season.
It's usually easier to either do more but smaller water changes (then chlorine concentration probably won't be an issue), or just put a few drops of dechlorinator in the new water, and mix before adding it to the aquarium.
It depends on the fish! It also depends on where you live.
City water has a lot of aditives1 These can kill fish ask the placeyou get your fish to test the water.
also type of fish. Remember salt water fish can't use just tap water!
Yeah that's fine... you can also buy those drops that neutralize PH levels.
yes, but i advise adding a water conditioner, some people say that it is beneficial to the fish because it builds up their protective slime coat. there is no conclusive evidence that this is true, but if you can help your fish by putting mysterious elixir into their water, why not? even if water conditioners are just a sham, at least you're stimulating the economy.
My 55 gallon tank has developed a recurring buildup of light brown mucously slime in the filters, I replace/clean the filters weekly but it keeps coming back. It doesn't look like algae. What is it and how do I get rid of it?

The pond behind my work has 5 alligators in it. Lately a company has been going out there & spraying a chemical to kill the plant life & algae in the water. Is this harmful to the gators & other wildlife that live by the pond?

I have a 40 gal tank. I moved it to a spot that gets morning indirect sun light. The problem isn't surface algae, but free floating algae. The water is green, barely translucent. I have tried to change the water but to no effect. What can I do?
