  • I was told during my Echocardiogram that the blue was the blood flowing in the forward (most desired) direction, and the red represented some regurgitation, or inefficiency, i.e., valve leakage. Supposedly, most or all people have some sort of leakage, very mild to significant. I'm still trying to sort out just where all my red color leaves me.....
  • Colors are used to represent the velocity and direction of blood flow
