If the problem is fixed disconnect the battery for ten minutes or so then reconnect it the check engine light should be off. If the problem isn't fixed, the light will come back on. Have your mechanic plug it in and see why the light is coming on, It could be something very serious, or something as simple as a clogged air filter.
