    No for several reasons. i believe a child should be just that....a child. lipstick, fancy hairstyles and makeup sends an undue message to a child. that, maybe they should be an adult earlier in life, than nature meant for them to be.

    Competition in beauty pageants is different than competition, say in sports. sports are physical competition, beauty pageants are strictly mental. mental stress that a child does not need at a young age. and, lets not forget the child molesters and perverts that attend these pageants. always looking for a score.

    Let them play soccer, gymnastics or basketball.

    Let their sweat come from physical activity, not mental strain.

    My daughter has competed in pageants since she was 8 mths old. Yes when she was young I put her in pageants. Now she is 15 and she chooses to do them. We DO NOT do "glitz" pageants. Those are the fake hair, fake teeth, to much makeup pageants. My daughter only does "NATURAL" pageants. Pageants that promote volunteering and community service. Pageants that focus on more than just a pretty face.She chooses to do these. Sometimes I wished she didn't... too much money involved! But i support her !

    I don't sending young children on beauty pagents is good for their development... I do not think that children nessessarily know what is best for themselves at such young ages.

    I don't have any children and if I did, I would not encourage or permit them to participate.

    I have four cats, I would never even enter them in a cat show competition.
