I was just about to pose this same question. I am a fanatic for being able to customize every part of my internet experience. It gives me something to do while waiting instead of just refreshing the page 9384 times. (I know, what a loser I am!)

I think the buttons and icons should remain the same, but the page colours and such should be customizable. At least a few pre-set options to choose from. I am such an anti-default person.

It would certainly help those of us who find the stark white background a bit hard on the eyes!

Yes. The bright background gets a bit old, and a little hard on the eyes. Users should be able to customize their profile pages. It would also provide a little more information as to what that user is like.

One feature that I think should be enabled is the ability to have a high-contrast/visibility CSS spreadsheet for users who have problems with their display screen. (Just add some JavaScript to load the CSS and a cookie to remember the user’s preference.)

I know one user who types in ALL CAPS just because it’s difficult for them to read.

    Note:
If you have Greesemonkey you can edit anything, including the ability to insert your own CSS style sheet. That means you can customise the way everything looks.

It's honestly something I've never thought of. I guess it'd be great if it could be customised so that we can go straight to our preferred categories for q&a, or customisable for font and fond size.

However if it's merely cosmetic type customisation, I'm not sure I'd use them. But then hey, I originally said I'd never use AB for more than an hour a day and well... that promise went out the window quite fast.

YES! I am sick of the white background. It hurts my eyes.
