This is a resolution for a Lincoln/ Douglass debate:
It is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save more innocent people.
- your take?

    I agree with Prog.

    Take Hiroshima into context. Millions were going to die. So we just minimized the losses to about 100,000. In effect, we killed one to save at least 10. Totally logical in my opinion.

    Yes. My position: you can't end the suffering or the wrongs that happen in this world, you can only minimize them. In this case, killing one to save many would be minimizing that suffering/the wrongs in this world. It's all we can do.

    I don't believe in the opposing view, which states you shouldn't kill no matter what the scenario. If you were one of the people about to be killed, and you watched me stand by while I could have saved you and so many more, would you have gotten the impression that I "cared" by that act? I would think that killing one to save many would be an act of compassion, and I believe we are all called on to have that in our character. I also believe that many of us would be glad to give our lives if it saved so many more....
