Not according to your cats. :o) If the kitties need that much medicine, I'm sure you are making them more comfortable in what is probably their very last years. When they pass on, you can choose to spend the money in other ways, should you choose to. If you feel guilty now, perhaps you can volunteer with a group that helps the less fortunate.
-
no, cats need love too.
-
No, the fact you even asked this question proves otherwise.
-
No, you're not a bad person :)
-
No, but it doesn't mean you cant help in other ways.
-
no, people who spend that much money on going out and boozing it up and partying or something equally empty and don't contribute anything to anyone are the ones who suck. you are choosing to take care of other living creatures, which is more than most people can say.
-
No, but when they are gone hopefully you will use this money to help needy people.
-
No, & don't let ANYONE convince you of that. There are a LOT worse things to spend money on.
-
No, we need to treat animals humanely aswell, we all contribute to this world in different ways, keep up the good work!
-
No, taking care of animals never makes one a bad person. NOT taking care could though.
-
Not by a long shot. Animals need love too.
-
You knew better than to ask this question, if there were any starving/needy around you, you wouldn't hesitate to help them. There should be more people like you.
-
No, not unless you have children/family members/etc who are in more need of help.
-
No, I'm sure you're a loving, caring person.
-
No, it means you care for your pets

Yes,but also you are a bad person because you are prolonging the suffering of the cats.
-
No, & you can always helpin other ways
-
Of course not, you are helping those around you. That's a LOT more than can be said for many.
-
No, not unless it blinds you or prevents you from helping others in need too.
-
No
-
No if they're not suffering.
-
No, so long as their quality of life is preserved. You can always voluneer for a group that helps the needy
-
No, they are lucky to have you as an owner.
-
As long as this money is improving their quality of life, no.
-
No, people waste a LOT more than that on far meaningless things.
-
If this make you a bad person, I'd really hate to see an evil one.
-
NOT taking care of your pets would make you a bad person.

Enough with all the DR's to Pastyone @ http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4523139 He is expressing an opinion I was LOOKING FOR (I wouldnt have asked otherwise). At least he's being honest, & not giving a "popular" answer just for the sake of ratings. The more voices we attempt to silence, the closer AB comes to being one large voice. My cats are far from "suffering", their ailments range from diabetes to hyperthyroidism. They're all easily treated with little to no side effects, just not cheap. My question was SUPPOSED to be more about whether or not this money would be better spent on humans http://library.thinkquest.org/C002291/high/present/stats.htm I donate, but always question what percentage REALLY goes to those in need. Just wanted some different views and opinions on the matter. If I ever figure out how to get eveything in under 255 character, I'll repost the question. Thanks for everyone's input! Yes, tried to post this as a comment, wouldn't take.

I have two cats with diabetes and it cost me just a little over that every month.....they have been great companions to me for 18 years.....to spend that to keep them healthy is not even an issue to me.....there have been times that I have given up three meals a day to keep them that way....but it couldn't be any other way.....I hate people who get animals with no intention of keeping them for their life duration....it makes me sick to see old animals dropped off at the shelter....it would be like dumping your grandmother off....

120 a month is cheap, for meds. Our own meds would be FAR MORE if they weren't offset by insurance. Also, sometimes pet meds need to be specially mixed or are less available (daughter of a retired pharmaceutical chemist) As to starving...look at what CEO's and sports figures make. Our priorities are not on helping others, overall, as a society. "The market" system is harsh - it rewards luxury and power, not need and justice.
