  • I read this question in two ways. If you ask which elements are most likely to combine under the condition that they form a compound without human intervention, I really don't know what to tell you. If you ask what elements would most likely form a compound given the condition that they are combined, that has to do with energy transfer. Stable compounds form if the reaction is favorable, that is free energy is negative. As it is, elements without a full valence shell are more unstable than they would be with a full one. Therefore noble gases would not likely form elements being combined. But take fluorine which is the most electronegative of elements, it would easily form a compound with hydrogen, which has one electron to share.
