    Well, to be honest in 1898 it changed with the summer and winter mining of the gold discovery. Hence "discovery day" a Y.T. holiday. Also it changes with the Rendezvous annual celebration but you'll never get an accurate count, even now. There are remote villages such as Telegraph creek, Alkaline Lake and many others where census simply isn't done.

    A rough number is about 2500. But even now there are only about 28k in the summer and a lot less when the snow sets in and school starts back up.
