  • When your stomach is upset, you don't actually want to eat much, but there are a few things that are considered helpful. Generally you want something bland. When I worked in the hospital, we would often give people soda crackers and 7-up that had been opened and left out to lose some of its fizz and come to room temperature (or at least not be cold). Cola syrup is an old remedy for upset stomachs and can still be found in some pharmacies. Personally, I've always found that mashed potatoes help settle my stomach.
  • Ginger biscuits or flat coca cola.
  • My father has ulcers and my mom has alot of stomach problems....They said that the best thing to do is to eat cottage cheese because you can eat as much as you want and it wont make your stomach more sick or drinking an ice cold glass of milk if you like milk.
  • A lot depends upon what is actually causing an unsettled stomach in order to remedy it. For example: viral, bacteria, or allergic reactions, stress, general mental disposition, parasites, metal or chemical contaminants, nutritional deficiencies, etc. So, of course, getting to the roots of the problem goes a long ways towards handling the symptom. Here are a few simple foods one might try in order to settle the stomach: A raw potato ( like red potatoes) eaten, including the skin. Be sure not to eat any sprouted greenery. Raw, fresh ginger root. Celery Carrots or carrot juice Raw Parsley Yogurt [sometimes: honey; or cinnamon and honey; or lemon or lime juice] Try one of these at a time (not the whole group together) to see what works best for your system. Some things which are not really a "food", but can be effective: GSE (grapefruit seed extract) activated charcoal colloidal silver
  • well, a little bird told me that fizzy drinks and chocolate sweets are used to settle the stomach.
  • Ginger. Go ginger all the way - steam it and make a tea out of it - drink ginger ale slowly. It is truly a miracle food for the tummy.
  • As someone who gets carsick quite a lot, I've found that saltine crackers and lemon drop candies help to settle the stomach very quickly. Also, though it's not a food, listening to music from headphones helps to keep carsickness at bay. Unless you're the one driving, of course. ;)
  • I've found ginger quite helpful. 7-Up or similar works well, too. So do bananas, for me.
  • BAKING SODA in water. My mom's favorite remedy. Or Diet 7-up, Diet Sprite, or Ginger Ale.
  • Avoid all fatty or fried foods. Avoid caffeinated drinks like regular tea and coffee. Anything ginger will help including flat ginger ale. Eat foods that absorb stomach acid such as crackers or unbuttered bread, and also easy to digest foods such as rice, chicken soup or bananas. -------- Pomegranate juice and pomegranate chutney also help balance the acid in the stomach. It tastes sour but it is actually both astringent and bitter, which help balance pitta. Fresh aloe vera gel straight from the leaf is balancing. Avoid the store bought juice as citric acid is used as a preservative and it is too acidic if you suffer from acid indigestion. Baked fennel seeds are also recommended to help settle the stomach and balance digestion. Eat 1/4 teaspoon of baked fennel seeds 3 times a day between meals. From the net - hope this helps.
  • A teaspoon of plain mustard.
  • I always use sugar free peppermint chewing gum, plus it freshens my breath too. You've probably noticed restaurants and pizza shops give out peppermint candies at their payment station after you've had a meal. This isn't by accident, last thing they want is a customer to feel icky after eating at their place . . . Besides the peppermint, I like Ginger Ale - if I have it. If not, a cola might help, but I'm probably more likely to drink a little milk. Another choice worth mentioning is saltine crackers, something every pregnant woman knows because it's helps with morning sickness.
  • I have a lot of stomach problems, and depending on what's available at the time, what works for me is... Baking Soda in water with 2 drops of peppermint oil... strong, sweet, black tea... ginger ale or lemonade left open for a few minutes for most of the gas to escape... if you can eat, dry crackers or a mashed up banana.
  • Try dry toast aswell. x
  • Crackers and 7 up....
  • Ice cream
  • general dairy products such as milk(this helps to line the gut) & also try pro-biotic yoghurt drinks
  • You know it's funny. When ever I have an upset stomach, I'll go have a #2 from McDonalds. You would think that the garbage they put in their food would only aggravate the situation, yet it doesn't. Furthermore, it always calms my stomach. Strange I know!
  • I agree with the classic saltines and 7-Up/Sprite/Ginger Ale - but I also love to have a big cold glass of chocolate milk (heavy on the chocolate) drank slowly. I use this when I have an upset stomach from allergies and for heartburn - it helps coat the stomach and neutralize the problem. I'm sure plain milk works just as well, but I cannot stand drinking plain milk.
  • People on here have some really good ideas. Bland anything is important, usually crackers or dry toast. I am a HUGE advocate for ginger, however. I would cut a piece of ginger root and chew and swallow. Before I had my gall bladder out, it was the only thing that would calm the nauseafrom the gall stones.
  • Crackers, ginger ale. Licorice stick (real licorice, not the candy)
  • Crackers, toast, anything with ginger or mint are great
  • lime juice, buttermilk, ginger ale, curd with a bit black pepper and salt in it and some find oranges helpful in such a case.
  • chicken chow minge, personal favourite.
  • Milk, Crackers, or Some Dry Toast
  • anything with ginger
  • Ginger, ginger ale, hot water with lemon juice, mint, licorice
  • milk shake
  • ice cream
  • It may sound counterintuitive, but mix two cups of milk with one teaspoon of mustard and drink. You will feel better after it gets worse. Dr. Timothy Norwood, MD
  • ginger ale, flat
  • Is it due to an empty stomach? Or due to overeating?
