I don't know your software situation, but the two things I'd try first are: 1. Re-install your USB driver. If you have any other USB devices available for testing, see if they are recognized by the computer. 2. Re-install the printer driver

I had this problem a lot with this printer! DONT BUY IT! Even when it´s been installed all of a suddenly it doesn´t anymore!

I received my X85 as a hand-me-down...now i know why it was being replaced. after several attempts, i passed mine on to the junk pile! im convinced it is useless.

That depends... which OS are you running? What sort of hardware do you have?

Thanks guys, I am using OS XP. I had done a recovery which wasn't a big deal in the past as far as reinstalling the Printer/copier. Now it seems it is giving me false info here. Odd I had un/reinstalled numerous times, have lost count but it is interesting that some have had same experience where it works fine then boom, craps out. I am curious about the Lexmark driver updates, can anyone comment on that in regards to why one would have to update a driver which previously worked? Semi-geek here, so not geeky enough to troublshoot this alone. Thanks again ;-)
