- Don't even start to tell me I am the way I am because it is because it is what some one else told me to be. I read the word on my own time. I know It is the word of God because I have independently followed it my whole life and God gives me what I ask of him. I have had my prayers answered in moments, I have felt the holy spirit encompase me, and none of this was in a churce or a church related situation. I speak with him daly and he answers. I am truly sorry if you don't know him, but I speak the truth.

- I hate to say this but yes it is. You must not read your bible. Read romans chapter one, versus 18:-32, or just read the entire chapter. It deals almost directly with homosexuality.

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22

No matter how many would like to twist around this quote saying that it isn't meaning what we think it means, cannot, in any way, argue, that it is the primary quote gay bashers like to use.

It confuses me too, why did God make men a certain way if He doesn't want them to be gay?

All this stuff I see about temptation, or not acting on your feelings and all that, which essentially is a polite way of people saying that homosexuality is wrong totally disgusts me. Gays and lesbians are born that way, or at least, have strong feelings about it, live in a society where it's not wholly accepted and probably, a lot of them, live their lives in confusion, fear and resentment.
Then you have all these people politely telling them that God condemns their disposition unless they change.

It's like saying being gay is wrong, which I don't see why it is. A lot of gay people are awesome, just as there are complete a holes. In short, they're human, like the rest of us, and it's okay for people to start belittling them and condemning them so casually?

Bleh. People should be accepted for who they are, and I can think of things a whole lot worse that God should concentrate on rather than sexual orientation.

Whether people are gay, lesbian, Goth or whatever else is frowned upon by contemporary Christianity, I always figure that if God didn't want people to be like that, then He just had to not create them like that. Human nature and its derivations should not be regressed, unless it harms others. But, that's just the opinion of a heathen, ha ha.

Until then, people ought to live as they see fit, though I don't actually blame God himself if He,s real, but rather human religions.

- Christ's birth didn't void Leviticus, since Christ is a mythical figure (so that throws out that argument). Besides, how was Leviticus voided, since it was never official in the first place? Who said it was? God? Oh yeah, the same guy who flooded the whole planet and killed every first born innocent Egyptian kid a few books earlier. Sure sounds like a god I would listen to....

I've quoted Leviticus to dozens, maybe more... still waiting for someone to render an explanation of why any God we would recognize in modern religions would issue commandments like "kill the homosexuals". Even if the New Testament releases folks from following those commandments, their mere existence calls into question everything that is claimed about a God who is just, loving, and never changes.

Because they are garbage and infect and infest society with their sickness. Just because YOU don't agree with the commands does not make them assinine or cruel. They are the rules that were necessary for a society to survive and, one day not to far in the future, this country will wake up and realize that violating those rules is eating at the heart of America and destroying it.

- If you weren't so determined to make anything that doesn't agree with your opinion, you would have understood what I wrote. I said that it's written in the Bible to take them to the dumps, etc. and that it was a necessity for the society to survive as were all the rules that were given there. This was given to a people that had to be told it was a sin to commit murder. That was the level of man at the time. But, the things that were wrong then are still wrong and homosexuality is one of them. I took care of some juvenile delinquents for the state once and they were required to be counselled by a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist they sent was a homosexual so every to weeks he would sit there and tell them that their whole problem was that they were sexually frustrated. Between the psychiatrists and the well-meaning people the country that I grew up in has turned from beautiful to a bunch of sick wierdos running around with their bodies covered with tattoos, pieces of iron junk hanging all over them and rutting like a bunch of pigs. And all the nice people saying there's nothing wrong. You people are what's wrong with the world but you weren't around when it was nice so you haven't a clue. I don't think we need to stone anyone but they do need counselling from people who are righteous and not from do-gooders and psychiatrists telling them that anything they want to do is ok.

- Well bullfrog, I honestly have a problem believing that an omniscient and omnipresent and perfect god would have a problem with such petty things as who you have sex with, or how many piercings one has. I have a lot of problems with Christianity.
  Honestly dear, if there is a Satan, and the Christian god is real, I would rather go to hell, than to not be with the one I love more that anything simply because a book, written and rewritten by men countless times, says that it isn't right.
  By the way, since you're so big on following the bible, I'll expect you to try and cast the evil out of anyone left-handed, to not have a Christmas tree, and to make sure that your wife is secluded during her time of the month and that she is stoned, along with whoever comes in contact with her, if she touches anyone during that time of the month.

- As far as getting counseling from the righteous, there are huge statistics of gay men killing themselves because they can't take hiding themselves anymore because it is the righteous thing to do. There are also huge statistics of gay men ruining the lives of their wives because marrying a woman was expected of them, and they couldn't take the pressure of pretending anymore, so they committed adultery. And one of my closest friends is an "Ex-Gay"... I can;t begin to explain to you the sadness in his eyes, and all because he feels that his god, who loves unconditionally, can't accept this minute aspect of his.
  So, either way, you end up committing a sin. Suppressing your homosexuality= suicide/adultery=sin. Suppressing your homosexuality= miserable life. Either way, you end up in hell, or wasting your life away.
  But thats right, this life doesn't matter, as long as you have eternal life in the next. So you waste away this life, waiting until you die. That isn't morbid at all.

- @Caffenated llama: those are all good arguments, but I think you have to appreciate that Bullfrog's nerve endings are damaged. He's not capable of feeling the suffering imposed on gays by cultural bigotry. The sensibilities would have to be rehabilitated before such arguments would have any impact. People have to be able to feel the pain of others to have compassion, and that gets killed off when someone is filled with hate from childhood. It's like being partially dead.

It coexists with us and, whereas we cannot see them, they do have the ability to see and interact with us. We should be able to interact with them but, because of the sin of Adam and Eve, we cannot. We are like tv’s with no antenna. This is the death that God told them would come about if they fell.

- The spiritual realm is as vast as our universe but any part of it can be travelled to at will by the denizens thereof. God is at the center and his light is the light of Love and gives the energy to all who live there. But, it is pure love so for those who have not learned to love with true love it is painful to approach. ( Kind of like a down and out druggie criminal trying to be comfortable at a church social. - There is plenty to do in the spirit world. People do mostly arts and teaching but you can do whatever you wish there. The things that you create with your mind become an actuality and last as long as you want them to and then they just dissipate. There are rivers, mountains, anything that you want is there and much more beautiful than here.
  Now, the further out realms are not quite so nice. As I said, everything exists in polarity. So, when you sin you reverse polarity because you are going against the proper direction.

  Interestingly enough, the Bible actually does imply that God is a judging God. What with that whole great flood that occurred because God had judged the world too sinful, and what about the book of Revelation, where it mentions that God would be spreading his judgment upon Earth?? Does that not count as judgment??
  As far as Hell goes, first I would like to point out that the Bible says that Hell is not inhabited yet, and in fact, Hell is the lake of FIRE that those JUDGED will be cast into when Christ reappears during the last days.

A Christian who does some real critical thinking is likely to realize that the Bible was written in an ancient culture, and it is soaked in that culture's taboos (such as fear of homosexuality). I said that it's written in the Bible to take them to the dumps, etc. and that it was a necessity for the society to survive as were all the rules that were given there. This was given to a people that had to be told it was a sin to commit murder. That was the level of man at the time. But, the things that were wrong then are still wrong and homosexuality is one of them. I took care of some juvenile delinquents for the state once and they were required to be counselled by a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist they sent was a homosexual so every to weeks he would sit there and tell them that their whole problem was that they were sexually frustrated. Between the psychiatrists and the well-meaning people the country that I grew up in has turned from beautiful to a bunch of sick wierdos running around with their bodies covered with tattoos, pieces of iron junk hanging all over them and rutting like a bunch of pigs. And all the nice people saying there's nothing wrong. You people are what's wrong with the world but you weren't around when it was nice so you haven't a clue. I don't think we need to stone anyone but they do need counselling from people who are righteous and not from do-gooders and psychiatrists telling them that anything they want to do is ok."- Bull wears a COAT of many colors.

- The last I remember in talking with this guy, was that the number had increased to 162,000 or so, I believe. I was never quite sure as to the when/why or how someone determined the number had increased and never wanted to get into the discussion with him either. I think that it is the most amazing thing that I have ever seen people go through because no matter what people do or say to gays they stand strong and keep their head up... Trust me I know what im saying all of my friends are gay and my mother is gay and also my aunt so I will stand up for you anyday and say it is not a sin and I will even tell god to his face it is just a way of life!

Yes it says in the bible being gay is wrong(Leviticus 20:13). It also says, wearing clothes of mixed fiber (Leviticus 19:19), cutting your hair(Leviticus 19:27), worshiping god if you have a flat noes or are blind (Leviticus 21:17-18) and if we are not going to follow all the other laws Leviticus why are we so concerned with that one. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and whether or not you agree with gay marrige or couple unless you have lived a completley blameless life that included no poly-blends, swearing, shaving, eating pig and leavened bread then you shouldn't be saying so :)

Homosexuality is a sin in the New Testament as well, not just the Old. One example:

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense [penalty] of their error which was meet [due]" (Rom. 1:26-27).

No sin is bigger than God can deal with, and homosexuality is no different. There are many other examples in the NT that sexuality is a sin, but I'll address the second part of your question. I don't believe anyone was "made" gay.

The majority of respected scientists now believe that homosexuality is attributable to a combination of psychological, social, and biological factors. Here are some examples of such scientists.

From the American Psychological Association:
"[M]any scientists share the view that sexual orientation is shaped for most people at an early age through complex interactions of biological, psychological and social factors."

From Sociologist Steven Goldberg:
"I know of no one in the field who argues that homosexuality can be explained without reference to environmental factors."

The Catholic Medical Association web site is helping to debunk the notion that individuals are "born gay."
"There is no verifiable evidence that same-sex attraction is genetically determined. If same-sex attraction were genetically determined, identical twins would always have the same sexual attraction pattern. Numerous studies of twins have shown that this is not the case. And there are numerous studies documenting change of sexual attraction patterns."

YES it is a sin for one simple reason; it is not normal. People are either males or females. If someone has physiological problems, he or she can always seek medical help. Defending gays is much like defending drug addicts. They are both weak and need to work harder on themselves.

- The word "normal" is usually defined as that which occurs most frequently (i.e. it's the norm, or standard). That means that everybody is not normal in some way or other. For example, 10% of the population are left-handed (funnily enough, that's the same percentage of people who are not heterosexual), so they are clearly "not normal". Are they sinners too, because of this? What about the huge number of people who suffer from vary rare genetic conditions, that only affect a tiny percentage of the population? But yes, to clarify, I believe they theorize that one of the reasons he turned out how he did was because he had to suppress his homosexuality. Being gay is not the sin. It is being promiscuious and having sex left and right. People think that the Bible says being gay is a sin, but, originally, it didn't. In its original language, the "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind" part really was close to "Thou shalt not lie with a male prostitute." At least, that's what I've read. Personally, I think God loves all people, and having sex with a same sex, as long as you are committed to that person, is not a sin. God just wants to protect our hearts and feelings, ya know?

Being gay is a sin because being gay is "unnatural". And we know how all Christians reject such unnatural things as eyeglasses, automobiles, McDonald's cheeseburgers and air conditioning.

In their collective opinion, God didn't make people gay. He just made the OPTION to be gay available to them. Somehow, that's supposed to alleviate the guilt from god and put it on his creation - that he decided to make imperfect.

So, the guy that made the people, invented the idea of mistakes, then made the desire to make mistakes, isn't actually responsible for the mistakes themselves.

Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

I've heard of studies which suggested homosexuality is genetic, just as I've heard of studies which suggested the environment might play a role, and as of so far I'm yet to be firmly convinced either way. I'm just especially skeptical when you say people 'choose' to be gay, seeing as I've heard of people who are gay and wish desperately they weren't (not to mention a religious man who ended up committing suicide because he was gay); do you think they actually chose to be gay? I'm leaning a bit towards the idea that it's at least partially genetic.

I have a reversed question (ironically playing the devil's advocate) but uh, where does God or one of his angels or even his son state that being gay is a sin?

Unless it is the word of the divine, how can a reasonable person believe that someone had said something that was what god meant or wanted? He (god) has proven that he has the will to communicate with/through various means (i. e. angels, dreams etc) to deliver the message to the people, why would he let someone else say it without he himself having told them to?... unless he didn't.

Just my two cents.

God doesn't make people gay.
homosexuality is a spirit from the devil.
if you feel attraction to the same sex as yourself,
you need to fight this spirit with everything you have
Homosexuality is a choice, that's why they call it an "alternative lifestyle"

- Great answer!!! we had this exact talk in church tonite and all I can add is God loves you No matter what, sin is sin and it is through love that sin is forgiven. If being gay/homosexual makes you feel badly then my best advice would be to talk to a minister or preacher you feel you can trust and let them help you and give you guidance in this matter because if they are truly teaching the word of God there should be no prejudice in their hearts.

No one IS gay. It's not an inborn created from birth characteristic. It's a sexual action, often arising from experiences in early childhood.

One line in the whole stinking book seems to make questions like this seem very paradoxical. Personally, I don't think being gay is a sin. There is much more talk about loving yourself and loving thy neighbor in the bible than there is about being gay and whether it is going to send you to hell or not. Why doesn't everybody focus on that and wait for God to sort everything out in due time??

If any piece in your computer is faulty and is giving you trouble, then there is a problem with the creator and/or the maker. To me it seems that your knowledge and concept of what is and how does this Universe work is the problem. If you see the world in such conflicting way, then it is clear that your glasses are broken or at least very dirty. Dogma is indeed the worst way to judge the world.

People choose their sexual preferences and peversions. If they like Doggy Style I Dont care what one does with their mate. One doesn't need to anounce their sexual preferences to the world. It's not a political statement! It is just a sexual preference.

Hmmm. If it's not a sin he sure meant it to be painful...he said to take the man who lies with a man out to the city dumps, stone him to death, and leave him there with the garbage. Sounds like he didn't care for that way of expressing one's sexuality.

Even if there actually is a god or divine power of some kind, I would not be able to tell you anything about his motives, or if he/she/it even does making being gay a sin. However, if he does punish people for being gay, I can tell you that it's probably because he is extraordinarily petty. You'd think the creator of the universe would have more important matters to attend to than worrying about an individual's sex life.

He didn't. He made man and woman for a reason, why people are like that is due to free will as well as living in the flesh. Your flesh strives against man wanting what it wants which is to a sinful nature. We must fast and pray daily for a reason God tells us persisly to put on the whole armor of God for a reason.

Do you really think God made people like that? I don't. Just look at our culture. We are influenced by that way of thinking. I see it on tv and in movies. I hear it in songs. Often times we can see it just walking down the street. It is everywhere. Say it often enough and people will start to believe it. The fact is God says it is an abomination.

Hbr 13:4 Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Mar 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

God did not make people that way. The world makes people that way.

God didnt make people like that. It is a perversion. Blame satan for it. read genesis. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, because of homesexuality and wickedness. Homosexuality is an abombination.

- and you saw him do this? Genesis also suggests we began from Adam and Eve and to be honest, that's a part of the Bible I really don't believe, like the part that man wrote and got wrong. I seriously don't think anyone ever lived to be 700 or such but according to that part of the Bible, lots and lots and lots of people did. There's like pages and pages of son after son and how old they were. And that also means Eve must have committed incest with her sons or that the sons committed incest with the unnamed daughters or something and I do believe incest is unnatural and goes against God. Now you mean to tell me you wil base your prejudice on homosexuals on the part that promotes incest?
