How do you get a timid cat out from under the futon?

    In my experience you don't until they are good and ready to come out! You might try putting his food and water at the edge of the futon and just giving him some time.

    Believe it or not, the second after I typed this question the cat came out from under the futon, got someting to eat and then jumped on the desk.

    I think the key is, ignore the cat.
