I don't know the origin, but I'm guessing it is very old since the anology also is used in spanish speaking countrys "El mundo es un panuelo"
It could have begun with the picture 'pale blue dot'. But I think it was around before that.
The expression some people use when they are in error, "It's my bad." Is it just me, or is anyone else tired of it? :)
