Can you replace parts of a laptop just like you can replace parts of a desktop? (I.E. you can get a new monitor for your laptop if yours breaks, speakers, keyboard, memory etc)

yes, but they are not mass produced like desk top components are. You have to pretty much get them from a similar laptop that is broken. (except for laptop memory)

Yes , most of the times there are websites that offer replacement parts , a quick search brings up websites like , http://www.laptopmaven.com , http://www.nylaptopparts.com who offer replacement laptop parts , there are a lot of parts that are used across many laptops like ram , dvd drives , hard drives , lcd screens and then there are many parts that are specific to the laptop brand and model , but still you can get spare parts at many websites.
