A sex offender doesn't belong on school grounds, and it could mean being sent back to jail. They might be able to vote (if it wasn't a felony) but I wouldn't take the chance of putting my foot on a school yards ground.

I just talked to a sergent at the Mi state police post and he said that we cannot take away their right to vote. They cannot reside within 1000 feet of a school but they CAN go to a school to vote and also go to ANY school functions that there children are involved in such as basketball and football games. I think that this is BULLSHIT, and if you have a child that goes to a voting school then you need to keep them safew AT HOME on Tues.

Yes. It should be noted that most sex offenders are not pedophiles. Also, sex offenders are not banned from schools or play grounds. Rather, they are only banned from living near them. Moreover, voting is a fundamental constitutional right. On the other hand, most sex offenders are felons who do have lost their voting privileges. But those who still retain the right to vote can go to school to do so.

You are all assuming the registered offenders are all pedophiles and they are not. There are 100's and 1000's of young people (teens) who went out and had voluntary physical relationships and as a result, they are now registered offenders for life. In many states, if an 18 year old boy has voluntary sex with a 16 year old girl and the parents press charges, the boy is a convicted felon and a registered offender for life. A true predator deserves everything they get thrown at them but kids who demostrate poor judgement and have underage, voluntary sex should not be felons, they should be able to vote and they should certainly not be registered sex offenders for life.

It depends on several things, the state and its laws, and if the person is on probation or parole. Some states do not allow ex-felons to vote, some do. However, if he is in a state where he can vote and his voting place is at a school, then what do you expect him to do? These laws against sex-offenders need to stop, they are cruel and un-constitutional. nothing more than what Hitler did to the Jews. Sometimes I am ashamed to be a citizen in this country.
