Thank you Missmezzo, the statistics on these genetic diseases are very hard to find.
Because paternal age has and is going up profoundly and Duchennes appears in its sporadic/de novo/non-familial form from the mother having had an older fathers when she was born, one would expect the incidence to increase dramatically now. For some reason before getting up this morning I had a thought about Jerry Lewis and why in all those years of telethons he did not ask people to try and complete their fathering of babies by the age of 35. If he had done that he would have done far more to prevent much of Duchennes from ever happening than he did raising all that money. The link between Duchennes incidence and genetic mutations in the sperm of the maternal grandfather has been known for a long time.
