Question

Help answer this question below.

Do you think that hunting animals from a helicopter is a fair sport? Personally I don't understand the 'thrill of the kill' especially when you don't give the prey a fighting chance.

I may be biased because I don't really care for hunting. I think of animals in their natural environment, defenseless and vulnerable. Then I imagine humans asserting dominance over animals, for SPORT, and I wish people were a little more sensitive and respectful to the natural world around us. From a helicopter... that's just cruel.

Of course not..another way to "kill" more with less effort. Whoever thought that up ought to be someone else's prey..see how he/she likes it..being stalked by helicopter with gun-toting "sportsmen". An Eye for an Eye...hoisted on his/her own petard..poetic justice! :) I am against hunting animals for "sport" to begin with..but at least they have a chance to escape from the intrepid hunter. This way, well, they are simply trapped. Shame shame shame. :(

i don't understand the 'thrill' of watching sports on TV either, does that mean others who find it thrilling shouldn't do it?

Hunting animals for sport by helicopter is illegal in every state in the US, I'm not sure about other countries but it is illegal in the US unless it is done by the government for predator control etc.

I used to think ill of the idea, and for sport I would say probably no. But there are now places in the south, Texas etc where the wild hog populations are so far out of control that you may well see an explosion of heliborne hog hunts sanctioned by those states. I'm for that as a means of pest control.

"Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and
those who have hunted men long enough and liked it, never
really care for anything else thereafter."

    -- Ernest Hemingway. --

The only real thrill of hunting is when the tables may be turned and you become the hunted. Now, THAT'S sport! (IMHO)

Not fair sport.. can't really even call it fair or sport, just someone who wants an easy trophy.

Well, any way you slice it - if you go after any animal with a gun/knife/bow and arrow...you have the upper hand. Even with fishing, unless you wade into the water and catch them with your hands, you've still got the advantage. I don't mind hunting...I think it's a good sport - so long as you eat what you kill, and don't just mount them up on your wall for trophies...now, THAT'S a waste.
