Open the folder and make sure the brushes went in. Make sure you put the brushes in your personal folder and not gimps system folder.
To make a brush available, place it in one of the folders in GIMP's brush search path. By default, the brush search path includes two folders, the system brushes folder, which you should not use or alter, and the brushes folder inside your personal GIMP directory

You're reading Why can't i load my gimp brushes? I've downloaded an assortment of them and placed them in the right folder, but they don't show up in gimp, even when i refresh the brushes menu. I've also noticed that most of the "broken" brushes are listed as shortcuts.
