Can someone garnish my wages if a small claims has been awarded against me, even if i was unaware of the court action and had no contact with either the court or the person the money is owed to.

    Yes, if you don't show up, whether its because you didn't get the notice or you chose to ignore it, they will award the plaintiff the judgement no matter what the reason for you not showing up and yes, they will garnish your wages. The best thing to do if someone sues and they win is to arrange to make payments.

    You would have been served a summons to appear in court. Otherwise it wasn't due process of law. You are entitled to defend your case. Contact the court.
    A sherriff ususally serves the summons and they have to sign a statement that they did so.

    As long as the proper notification methods were carried out, yes. You can try to talk to the courts about it, but if you failed to appear, then you may be out of luck.
