Question

Help answer this question below.

I am 18 years old and my mother booked me a chartered flight to her home country (which I do not agree with) without my consent. Is there any way I can cancel it and get the money back for her? dates are for December 18.

DONT GO..SHE CAN NOT MAKE YOU...WHAT ARE HER MOTIVATIONS BEHIND SENDING YOU OUT OF THE COUNTRY...I KNOW A GIRL 16, THAT WAS SENT HOME FOR A VIST ONLY TO FIND OUT HER FATHER HAD ARRANGED A MARRIAGE FOR HER IN YEMEN...AND ONCE YOU ARE THERE YOU ARE SCREWED..NO AMERICAN LAWS TO PROTECT YOU...

Well, you should simply talk to your Mom about it and tell her what's up. I mean, if you cancel the trip this conversation will arise. Maybe you should still go but turn your trip into a positive. Start standing up for yourself and get a bit of attitude. Your family probably hasn't learned about how it makes you feel because that's all you do - you take it and don't give back. I'm not saying you should be mean or disrespectful, just honest.

After all, if you do make a scene, be confident that YOU didn't want to go in the first place. They "ordered" you there, so it's time to say what you think (with diplomacy).

Call the airlines and explain the situation. I have had experience with this sort of thing, and I can assure you, they will do everything they can to help.

That would depend on the airlines, but probably not.

Im not really sure you can do that. Im currently taking Computer class and we had to plan a pretend vacation, and I went through American Express and it said in the fine print, you are not allowed to cancle that flight. So your probally gonna have to suck it up, and just go. Just think of it as a time to get away.

I know it will suck if you are unable to get her money back. But if that happens, think of it as a lesson for your mother for booking a flight without your consent. That way, she might think twice before doing it again. If you are unable to cancel it and get the money back, it should be easy to skip it. What about arranging a sleep over at a friend's for the night before?
