A temporary fix: They can spray, Cloraseptic spray, that is similar to the numbing medicine they give you, that is what a dentist told me. also, Hydrogen peroxide, is helpful, tilt your head side to side, NO SWISHING.

** You also need to be on antibiotics.

Self-care. You may be instructed how to flush your socket at home to promote healing and eliminate debris. To do this, you'll be given a plastic syringe with a curved tip to squirt water, salt water, mouthwash or a prescription rinse into the socket. You may need to continue to do this daily for three or four weeks. Mayo clinic.com

DO NOT gargle with warm salty water or anything.
The reason you have a dry socket is that the blood clot is missing causing the break down of the healing process. Any harsh gargling, swishing, sucking (as in a straw), smoking, etc causes the much needed blood clot to dislodge. A dry socket is created from lack of proper post-surgery care or can just be an act of nature. I would try to speak to a dentist. The gum is separating from the bone causing the pain. I dentist will clean it out and pack it with pain reliever/antibiotic paste or poultice. I had 2 dry sockets side by side. The only relief I received from home was anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen and ice packs.

My wife had the same problem and I wrote into this forum to see if anyone has tried the Drysocketremedy.com. I finally went for it and it works good. My wife is now better. She went to the dentist and he put in some of the stuff that is by Doctors prescription only. But the dry socket remedy did work fine. I guess I had to answer my own question!!

Try rinsing your mouth with an aspirin dissolved in a tablespoon of water.

True a "dry socket" is caused by the missing blood clot, sometimes the Doctor will recut the gum in that area, and restitch it to promote healing. I never tried it, but you could take a tea bag, soak it in warm water for a few mins. then place it over the socket, bite down lightly, and keep it there for 10 -15 mins. The heat, and an acid in the tea helps....hope you feel better soon.

soak guaze in warm salty water and cover, until a few hours ago i had been in pain for 2 days, painkillers didnt work, you have stop the socket(bone and nerves) from being exposed, i will seek professional help tomorrow- i went to the surgeon and he placed some special kind of paste(with cloves in it)down ther and since then (2 days ago) i have been fine, mine is not infected though as i was on antibiotics
